Kora, a lute-harp 21-string tool played by plucking with the finger, is a traditional musical instrument extensively used in West Africa. Usually built from a large calabash, cow skin, and hardwood.
On your adventure this morning, learn the basics of playing kora from the teachers trained by Toumani Diabaté himself, one of Mali's most prominent musicians. You will be welcomed at the musician's courtyard within his compound and spend almost 2 hours immersing yourself in this musical experience.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Bamako around 10 am this morning by a private car. From here you will transfer to the location of your lesson. Once your lesson has finished, you will depart for a local lunch before heading back to your hotel. Drop off will be between 1-2pm.
