Punta Gallinas is the northernmost tip of South America and one of the extreme points of the world. Located in Guajira Peninsula, this untouched paradise is an arid coastal desert landscape with beautiful dunes, exotic beaches, and sacred indigenous cultures.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Day 1
Depart from your hotel in Santa Marta at dawn and head to Palomino for breakfast then continue to Riohacha and then Uribia, considered the indigenous capital of Colombia. Reach Cabo de la Vela after about 8 hours of traveling and have some delicious lunch and a well-deserved rest at the beautiful beach. Visit the most iconic spots of this area including El Pilón de Azúcar, La Montaña Sagrada, El Desierto de la Ahuyama, and Playa Dorada. Then, venture to Pilón de Azúcar and its beautiful gold-sand beach and witness as the glorious sun sets on the ocean. Head to the Rancheria for a delicious dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Wake up to the sound of the ocean and head towards Punta Gallinas for breakfast. Then, visit the most iconic parts of the area such as the El Faro lighthouse, the northernmost point of South America, El Mirador, Los Oasis, and Taroa Desert where you can enjoy the dunes. Head back to the Rancheria Wayuu for lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure.
Day 3
Depart early from Bahia Honda and enjoy a panoramic tour of Uribia. Your tour concludes with a transfer back to Santa Marta.
