Pongara National Park 1-Day Tropical Escape from Libreville

Looking for a relaxing day just outside the city or wanting to finish your trip in Gabon in style while waiting for your PCR result? We got you covered! 

Pongara National Park, located just an hour's drive/15-minute boat ride from Libreville, is the perfect place to be with its abundant wildlife, diverse flora, and pristine coastlines that offer commanding views of the ocean. The park is home to an estuary and a long strip of sandy beach where you can laze on the sand for hours, and swim your weariness away. Apart from a few earthy and simple lodges, it's hard to believe that Gabon's most accessible wilderness area is relatively untouched.

Travel along its shimmering estuary which also cuts through mangrove swamps and inundated forest and see a vast population of monkeys, reptiles, and rare and exotic bird species. If you time it right, you may also spot some forest buffalos, elephants, red river hogs, and the elusive leopard wading along the tracts of the savannah. During the dry season, Pongara also plays host to migratory bottlenose dolphins and humpback whales. But perhaps, the most spectacular of them all is the arrival of critically endangered leatherback sea turtles, the largest gathering of its kind on the West Coast of Africa.

During your trip, welcome drinks as well a scrumptious meal (entry, main, dessert) will be served. The pool, table tennis, ping pong, and canoes are also free to use. In the late afternoon/early evening we’ll make sure you’ll get back safe and sound to Libreville.
