Itinerary
Day 1 - Nairobi - Aberdares Reedbuck Campsite
Meet and greet your local guide at the designated pick up location in Nairobi, then drive towards Nyeri Town, where a jeep will take you to Kenya Wildlife Service headquarters. Enter Aberdare National Park through the Treetops Gate, and go on a game drive on the way to the Reedbuck Campsite. You will then spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the park and visit the Karuru and Magura Waterfalls accompanied by an armed ranger.
Day 2 - Aberdares Reedbuck Campsite - Honi River Campsite
Break camp after breakfast and continue your hike into the moorland, stopping along the route to see the Chania and Queens Cave waterfalls. Appreciate the marvels of nature and be astounded by the breathtaking vistas. As you make your way to the Honi River campsite, come across elephants, buffalo, antelopes, Elland waterbacks, Reedbucks, and different bird species.
Day 3 - Honi River Campsite - Wanderers Roadhead Campsite
Enjoy breakfast at the camp, followed by a stroll through the Hagenia Forest to the Wanderis Roadhead Campsite where lunch will be served. Afterwards, tour the Campsite Environs and the waterholes in the afternoon.
Day 4 - Wanderers Roadhead Campsite - Satima Peak - Wandare Park Gate
Get up early in the morning and begin your trek to Satima Peak, the highest point in the Aberdares at 4001 meters. From the summit, you can see Mount Kenya to the east and the Great Rift Valley to the west. Afterwards, make your way back to the campsite. As you descend the curving road with the spectacular Giant Bamboo tree magnificently guarding it, you may notice buffalos occasionally crossing the road. Exit through the Wanderis Gate, where you will set up a camp for the night.
Day 5 - Wandare Park Gate - Nairobi
Descend to the forest clearance, and take a 4x4 transfer vehicle to Chogoria Village, where you will find your driver ready to take you back to Nairobi.
