5-Day Mount Kenya Climbing Experience from Nairobi

Itinerary

Day 1 - Nairobi - Sirimon - Judmaier Camp (Old Moses Camp)

Meet and greet your local guide at the designated pick up location in Nairobi, then drive towards Nanyuki for lunch. Continue your journey with a hike to reach Sirimon Gate. You will follow the trail from the gate as it climbs into the forest, leading to an uncultivated terrain, and then Judmaier Camp (Old Moses Camp), where you will have dinner and spend the rest of the night.

Day 2 - Judmaier Camp (Old Moses Camp) - Shipton Camp

Follow the track uphill after breakfast, turning left at the fork in the road. The Ontulili River is crossed by the trail an hour after leaving Old Moses Camp. Cross Liki North, then turn right to head into the Moorland. Continue climbing until you reach Mackinders Valley, where you will get sweeping views looking up the valley toward the main peaks. Overnight at Shipton Camp.

Day 3 - Shipton Camp

Spend the day getting acclimated. Walk from Kami Hut to Hauseberg Tarn, Nanyuki Tarn, and the Hauseberg Lakes. In order to eat and stay the night, Then, return to Shipton to spend the night.

Day 4 - Shipton Camp - Point Lenana - Mount Meru Bandas (Chogoria Gate)

Make your way up a steep, stony quarry through a narrow cliff clearing. Head towards the direction of lower Hall Tarns and arrive at Mount Kenya’s Point Lenana to witness the beautiful sunrise. Afterwards, descend to Mintos Hut for breakfast, then continue your hike farther down to Mount Meru Bandas (Chogoria Gate), where you will spend the night.

Day 5 - Mount Meru Bandas (Chogoria Gate) - Chogoria - Nairobi

Descend to the forest clearance, and take a 4x4 transfer vehicle to Chogoria Village, where you will find your driver ready to take you back to Nairobi.
