  • Duration: 7 Days (approx.)
  • Product code: PH15Q3

Set out on Mt. Kilimanjaro's most popular and well-traveled ascent route! Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highlight of most travelers' trips to Tanzania. Few mountains can match Kilimanjaro's grandeur and breathtaking panoramas of Amboseli National Park in Kenya, the Rift Valley, and the Maasai Steppe. So, get ready to conquer the highest free-standing mountain in the world in seven unforgettable days!

The Marangu Route is deemed as the most popular and easiest of the Mt. Kilimanjaro routes. This path winds through the cultivated foothills, forest, alpine moorlands, cliffs, and glaciers of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Although this is a challenging trekking journey, it is doable for a healthy individual and has a high success rate for reaching Uhuru Peak.

Ascending on the 'rooftop of Africa,' the continent's highest point at 5896 meters, is an adventure of a lifetime. Especially since, if properly paced, everyone from seasoned trekkers to first-timers can conquer the slopes.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arusha - Mandara Hut

Meet and greet your local guide at the designated pick up location, then head towards the Marungu Gate to start your climbing journey at 1,720 meters and continue through the rain forest to Mandara Hut (2,700 meters). This will take roughly 3 hours, but take your time because acclimatization begins at the entrance. Dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut.

Day 2 - Mandara Hut - Horombo Hut

Gradually ascend to Horombo Hut at 3,720 meters through Maundi Crater (Upper Path). This 4-5 hour ascent takes you out of the forest and over open moorland and forest. Stay at Horombo Hut for the night.

Day 3 - Horombo Hut

Climb at a greater altitude and possibly top view Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks for acclimatization day. You will then return to Horombo Hut for meals and overnight.

Day 4 - Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut

Continue your ascent after a good rest. While trekking across the alpine desert on the way to Kibo Hut at 4,703 meters, a portion of the mountain top may be seen. After a 5-6 hour trek, you will arrive at Kibo Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 5 - Kibo Hut

Today is your second acclimatization day in Kibo, beginning with a morning climb to Hans Meyer Cave, the halfway point to Gillman's Point at 5,150 meters. Return to Kibo Hut for lunch and some rest.

Day 6 - Kibo Hut - Uhuru Peak - Kibo Hut - Horombo Hut

You will be awakened just after midnight to begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters). This is a five-hour hike. You will then return to Kibo Hut and continue your descent to Horombo Hut, where you will eat and sleep.

Day 7 - Horombo Hut - Arusha

Make your way back to the Marangu Gate, where you will receive your Summit Certificate. Then, return to Arusha, where your climbing adventure comes to an end.
