2 Day Akagera National Park Experience Safari

Day 1: Arrival and Game Drive

Morning Arrival: Travelers arrive at Kigali International Airport or a designated meeting point in Kigali. After a brief introduction to the safari itinerary, guests are transported to Akagera National Park, which is approximately a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Kigali.

Check-In: Upon arrival at the park, guests check into their accommodation. Options may include lodges or tented camps that offer comfort while allowing guests to stay close to nature.

Afternoon Game Drive: After lunch, the safari begins with an afternoon game drive. Visitors will explore various habitats within the park, including savannahs, wetlands, and woodlands. The park is home to a variety of wildlife species such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and numerous antelope species. The guide will provide
insights into the animals’ behaviors and the ecosystem.

Evening Relaxation: After the game drive, guests return to their accommodation for dinner. The evening can be spent relaxing by a campfire or enjoying the serene environment of the park.

Day 2: Boat Safari and Departure

Early Morning Game Drive: On the second day, an early morning game drive allows guests to witness wildlife during their most active hours. This time is particularly good for spotting predators like lions and leopards.

Boat Safari on Lake Ihema: Following breakfast, guests embark on a boat safari on Lake Ihema. This experience offers a different perspective of wildlife viewing as visitors can see hippos basking in the sun and crocodiles along the shores. Birdwatchers will also appreciate this opportunity as Lake Ihema is home to over 400 bird species.

Lunch and Departure: After returning from the boat safari, guests enjoy lunch at their accommodation before checking out. The journey back to Kigali provides additional opportunities for scenic views of Rwanda’s rolling hills.
